Could i use LOreal excellence hicolor hilights for dark hair only?

i have medium brown hair, and in the super duper top layer i have 6 carmel colored highlights, i want ot dye my hair so could i use loreal execellence hicolor hilights and get the same reaults? i am either using red hot or deep auburn red.
