I dyed my hair too dark, how can I lighten it?

I just dyed my hair from auburn back to my natural brown, but it came out almost black. I actually like the black more, but my dad hates it :p I definitely don't want to strip the color, it's just too much hair damage. I just dyed it about two hours ago, should I shampoo it? Or would that take too much of the color out? I don't wanna have to buy anything, so do you have any home tricks/tips? Thanks!
