'Dip dying' my hair. Please help?

Hi. So i have dark red hair, it's almost auburn & it's not very long only about to my shoulders. Not that this even matters much. But I'm going to dip dye my hair. So basically I'm going to bleach the tips and it will kind of gradate upwards & my hair will remain my natural color for the top part. Has anyone done this themselves? I have the stuff i need i just need to know how i should (or whomever is going to do my hair) do it. Any tips would be greatly appriciated. Thank youu (:
